Creative Advocacy
We use creative advocacy to reach all levels of society in a way that is both entertaining and carries a social message.

For many years, we have used various forms of art and media to confront, debate and to campaign the issues of marginalized children from around the world, from theatrical performances that depict the hardships of street life, to stark photographs displaying abject poverty and suffering, to our most recent, animated videos dealing with incest and pedophilia.

Our Role in Prevention Efforts
As a result of working directly with children for years, Stairway realized a great number of children in its program had been victims of some form of child sexual abuse and exploitation.  This sad revelation compelled the organization to confront the reality. Over the past years, SFI has joined forces with both local and international network of partners in the fight against child sexual abuse.  Currently, SFI trains hundreds of teachers, social workers, church people, organizations and parents in an attempt to promote personal safety programs in schools, churches and communities. The workshops are creative, interactive and uses animation as a mode of presentation.

Animation:  An Innovative Tool for Teaching Personal Safety

Children need education on personal safety.  Thus it is important to provide them with accurate information about their personal safety.  Animation is an innovative tool that can achieve this end.  Non-threatening and non-intimidating, animation transcends the limits of language and cultural specificity to generate dialogue with young people. They can see their own lives reflected in the stories, and begin to talk and think about their unique challenges head-on.

Our animated videos and supporting materials are a source of inspiration to teachers, social workers, counselors or any person who wants to listen to young people and help them.
