From major theatre productions on issues
affecting the lives of street children, to teaching small non-formal education classes for children with special needs
Below is an introduction to
some major projects serving the purpose of education, information and
advocacy.
In 1999 "Goldtooth,
A Street Children Musical" gave a first-time-first-hand exposure
to the realities of street children for about 20,000 students in Europe
and in the Philippines. For most of them the musical was followed up with
classes about children's rights and abuses hereof.
However, many teachers informed us that they were lacking up-to-date
materials for teaching the issue. This became the trigger to the
production of the collection of the short stories,
"Black Angels, Street Children
Realities".
"Black Angels, Street Children
Realities" is a collection of 11 short stories with background information and teachers' guidelines for use in the classroom.
Animation Toolkits
Due
to the alarming number of children in South East Asia who have become
victims of child sexual abuse and sexual exploitation, Stairway has been
compelled to become actively involved in the growing local and
international network fighting against child sexual abuse and
exploitation. Currently, SFI trains
hundreds of teachers, social workers, church people, organizations and
parents in an attempt to promote personal safety programs in schools,
churches and communities. The workshops are creative, interactive and
uses animation as a mode of presentation.
Our award
winning animated videos and
supporting materials are a source of inspiration to all of those who want to listen to young people and help
them.
