Stairway provides trainings and workshops on children’s rights and on the prevention of child sexual abuse.  These trainings vary in terms of duration, targeted audiences, methodologies and intended effects. These trainings are all built upon the animation toolkits Stairway has produced, and are intended not only to increase knowledge, but more so, to change attitudes surrounding the issue of child sexual abuse.

Basic CSAP Orientation
Runs from half to a whole day, the basic orientation involves showing the two animations, and discussing basic concepts of childrens’ rights and child sexual abuse. Can be a one-off activity, but can also be a precursor to the basic CSAP training.

Basic CSAP Training
Runs for 2 days. Covers the concept of childrens’ rights, and more in depth discussion of the issue of child sexual abuse including defining child sexual abuse, its forms, the dynamics involved and what to do in the case of children’s disclosure.

CSAP TOT

Included, in a certain extent, is discussion on how to implement CSAP programs for the participants specific setting (i.e. NGO, LGU, etc.)

Para-Counselors training
The Para-Counseling Skills Workshop is a 5-day training conducted with the aim of teaching participants basic counseling skills in dealing with child sexual abuse survivors. Targeted for individuals who are working with or planning to work with children survivors, the workshop is composed of two levels. Level 1 comprises the following topics: review of the participants Knowledge, Attitudes and Skills when it comes to counseling; qualities of a good counselor; the counseling process; basic skills in counseling; use of creative modalities in counseling such as art, poetry, and play therapy; other approaches in counseling such as cognitive behavioral therapy and crisis counseling; and caring for the self.

Level 2 is a 3-day follow-up training which aims to enhance the participants’ skills after a period of actual counseling done in their own community. It would also serve as a mentoring and debriefing process. All participants are required to have undergone the Level 1 workshop.

The basic CSAP training is a pre-requisite for the Para-Counselors training.

Protective Behavior training
